Sabi Kairagi Glazed Bowl

Japanese made, French inspired

The Japanese tradition of Sabi Kairagi, or rust crackle, requires the trained hand of an artisan to produce. The clay is wrinkled during a first firing process and brown paint is added and then wiped away so it only shows in the cracks. A transparent glaze is added during the final firing.

This beautiful bowl has many serving uses but is great for simmered dishes. It comes with handy drinking or pouring spout.

From Marumitsu Poterie, a Japanese company that produces functional tableware influenced by French culture.
