Ferment for Good
Full of sumptuous photographs and fun Japanese-style cartoons, Ferment for Good is a guide to discovering the joys of preservation. Australian-born author Sharon Flynn includes a how-to guide to the basics, with sections on wild fermented vegetables as well as drinks, dairy, grains, and such traditional Japanese favorites as soy sauce, sake kasu, and pickled ginger. She supplements such backgrounders with recipes and advice for incorporating these foods into every meal.
Flynn says that she discovered fermenting while living in Tokyo and Seattle. In 2015, she completed an intense workshop with Sandor Katz, and she now runs her own Melbourne-based fermenting business.
