07/19/18 Taste of Place with DuMOL Winery
Join us for a Taste of Place dinner with DuMOL Winery. This four-course dinner prepared by Chef Perry Hoffman will highlight the unique freshness of DuMOL wine through thoughtful menu pairings. This winemaker dinner will encourage engaged discussion and shared stories about producing sustainable and delicious wine in Sonoma County.
DuMOL Winery was founded in the Russian River Valley as a family winery in 1996, and today boasts 28 small-lot vineyard sites throughout Sonoma County. Each vineyard is farmed with an intentional delicacy that allows for a unique “site signature” to develop. Viticulture at DuMOL prioritizes ecosystem health and uses a method of high-density planting to create a strong connection between soil and vine. This commitment to environmental stewardship encourages their nuanced and vibrant fruit to thrive. Additionally, DuMOL’s winery in Windsor is powered by solar energy and uses a bioreactor to reduce the impact of wastewater.
Andy Smith is the viticulturist, winemaker, and partner at DuMOL. Originally from Scotland, Smith learned the art of winemaking in New Zealand, Australia, and Northern California. Smith joined DuMOL in 1999 and his holistic approach to vineyards has earned him accolades in the field. He was named “Wine Personality of the Year” by Wine Advocate in 2005, one of the “World’s Most Influential Wine Consultants” in 2008, and one of the “World’s Grape Gurus” in 2013, both by Food & Wine magazine.
Taste of Place is an unforgettable dining experience at SHED that takes inspiration from the terroir and story of each featured producer. Through interviews, conversations, and sensory experiences, we explore the history, traditions, and tastes of our region.
